Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Strategic Consultant in Nottingham to contribute to a diverse range of research and consultancy projects within the Transportation Advisory, Consultancy and Research team. The role emphasizes data analysis, dashboard development and the translation of insights into actionable client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline with a 2:1 classification or above.
• A Master’s degree or PhD in a related field would be an advantage.
• Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of research and data analysis.
• Willing and able to work towards chartership with the relevant professional institution.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI.
• Ability to source, review, collate and analyse information and interpret results.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to take ownership of project tasks, with direction from the Project Manager.
• Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition, tenacity and drive.
• Ability to structure and prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the wider team.
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, while demonstrating initiative and focus.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for innovation and developing new and improved ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
• Data analysis and dashboard development.
• Analysing transport, road safety, asset and other infrastructure-related data to identify trends and inform recommendations.
• Supporting the development of technical reports, strategies, guidance, standards and client deliverables.
• Undertaking literature reviews, research and evidence gathering to support project objectives.
• Contributing to stakeholder engagement, workshops, interviews and consultations.
• Supporting the development and evaluation of innovative approaches, including technology and AI applications.
• Assisting with trials, studies and research projects, including driving simulator and road user behaviour research.
• Supporting highway asset management, maintenance and operational studies, including lifecycle planning and whole-life costing.
• Presenting findings and recommendations clearly to project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across AECOM and supporting the delivery of projects to agreed timescales, quality standards and budgets.
