Job summary

AECOM is hiring a Graduate Transport Planner to join our UK Transport Planning Team in a hybrid, 2027-start role. Based in Bristol or Chesterfield, you will support data collection, transport modelling, strategy development and business case work as part of a growing, multidisciplinary team.

You’ll work with experienced staff, gain training, and contribute to projects across the UK and Ireland, with opportunities to advance toward chartership and professional accreditation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics or Maths or MSc in Transport Planning (min 2:1).
• Masters degree would be advantageous.
• Transport Planning modules or experience would be an advantage.
• Strong technical understanding of Transport Planning.
• Demonstrable interest in Transport Planning and career development.
• Willing to pursue chartership with TPS, CIHT, or ICE.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Data collection and analysis for transport projects.
• Develop transport strategies and plans.
• Develop and apply transport models.
• Scheme development and appraisal for transport schemes.
• Prepare transport assessments for developments and business cases.
• Assist in reports, presentations, bids and proposals.
• Attend meetings and workshops with clients and stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Maths

MSc in Transport Planning (2:1 or above)

Willing to work toward TPS/CIHT/ICE chartership

Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Transport Planning

Interest in Transport Planning and developing a career in the industry

Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

Communication skills with clients and colleagues

Ability to structure and prioritise work; team and independent work
