Job summary

Sweco UK is recruiting a Graduate Transport Planner in Manchester to join our Infrastructure & Environment division. You will contribute from inception to strategy development, appraisal, and detailed scheme design while developing analytical and communication skills with experienced mentors.

You’ll participate in a two-year blended learning Graduate Scheme with virtual and in-person sessions, network with peers, and receive a competitive salary plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Have a degree relevant to the role you’re applying for.
• Have less than 12 months of relevant work experience (excluding placements).
• Are confident using Microsoft Office and other relevant digital tools.
• Are driven, proactive, and solution-oriented.
• Can work in the UK without restrictions either now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and interpret data relating to transport systems, including traffic patterns, public transport use, active travel, accessibility and economic impacts.
• Support the development and appraisal of transport strategies, business cases, funding bids, feasibility studies and transport schemes.
• Undertake research into transport policy, local context, best practice and emerging trends to inform project recommendations.
• Provide day-to-day technical input as part of a team of transport planning consultants.
• Produce clear, well-reasoned reports, technical notes and presentations that communicate data, evidence and recommendations effectively to colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across transport planning, engineering and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and added value for clients.
• Manage your allocated tasks with support from project managers, ensuring your work is delivered to the agreed scope, programme, quality standards and budget.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues and clients, sharing knowledge and taking pride in the quality of your work.
• Engage with the Transport Planning Society’s Professional Development Scheme, supporting your progression towards Chartered Transport Planning Professional status.
