Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in North Shields. This is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience while supporting students to succeed beyond education.

You will support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, assist teachers with engaging lessons, and help pupils overcome academic and social barriers. A degree in any subject and a genuine passion for helping young people are essential.

Qualifications

• A degree in any subject is accepted.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, resilient and proactive attitude.
• Ability to build professional relationships quickly.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience with young people is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Help students overcome academic, social and emotional barriers to learning.
• Support pupils with SEND, Autism (ASC), ADHD and SEMH needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Build strong relationships that develop confidence and resilience.
• Work closely with teaching staff, SEND teams and pastoral colleagues.
• Gain experience of safeguarding, behaviour management and classroom practice.
