Step Into Teaching supports a secondary school in Northampton seeking STEM Graduate Teaching Assistants for September 2026.

Hold STEM degree with a 2:2 or above and a passion for improving pupils’ outcomes. The role offers full-time, Monday–Friday duties with term-time pay.

Qualifications

  • A graduate with a degree in STEM or closely related subject.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and curriculum content.
  • Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for education and helping students succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom activities and assist in delivering STEM lessons to students of various age groups and abilities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group tuition to students who need additional help, either inside or outside of class time.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Help to monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with homework and assignments.
  • Assist with administrative duties related to student progress tracking and classroom organisation.

Step Into Teaching are supporting a secondary school in Northampton who are seeking STEMGraduate Teaching Assistants.

If you hold a degree in maths, then this could be the ideal position for you. The school are looking for graduates that are enthusiastic about mathematics and have a genuine desire to better the educational outcomes of the pupils they work with.

The opportunity:
  • September 2026 start
  • GraduateTeaching Assistant
  • Hold STEMdegree (or related) with a 2:2 or above
  • Secondary school in Northampton, Northamptonshire
  • Full-time role, Monday - Friday
  • £500 -£530 per week pro rata - term time only
  • Chance to gain invaluable classroom experience before teacher training
The successful graduate must:
