Job summary

Focus Consultants Group in the UK is seeking a Graduate/Trainee-level energy assessor to contribute to SAP/SBEM calculations, energy modelling, and building regulations compliance. This role offers training, a hybrid working pattern, and opportunities across sustainability services in an expanding team.

Qualifications

• SAP / SBEM software experience and a good understanding of Building Regulations (AD Part L) and a relevant qualification advantageous.
• Familiarity with Environmental Assessment Methods (BREEAM, DREAM, Fitwel) would be beneficial.
• Advanced educational background related to technical construction (e.g., HNC, degree).
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex and technical information in writing.
• Enthusiasm and passion for the environment.
• Driven to succeed with ambitious personal goals.
• Interest in latest sector developments and news.
• Customer service mindset with strong communication.
• Membership of a professional institution desirable (IEMA, CIWEM, RICS, CIOB).
• Full, clean driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Domestic (SAP) and/or Non-Domestic (SBEM) energy calculations and dynamic modelling across several sectors.
• Helping with delivery of Simplified Method Overheating Calculations.
• Producing supporting Calculations for Planning statements / Energy statements.
• Provide expertise in relation to Building Regulations Part L
• Office-based Support for our On-Site Testing Services
• Assist with Environmental Assessment Methods services (BREEAM, DREAM, HQM, Fitwel etc) and wider energy assessments and evaluations across sectors.
• Assist with producing embodied and whole life carbon assessments.
• Help the planning support team interpret Local Authority Sustainability Policies and assist with the responses surrounding Energy and Sustainability strategy.
• Contribute towards providing broad advice to developers on Low and Zero Carbon approaches.
