Vertical Recruitment Limited is seeking a Graduate Structural Engineer to join our central Manchester team. You will work alongside chartered engineers on a diverse range of projects while developing toward professional chartership.

You'll gain hands-on experience across the project lifecycle, from initial design to site inspections and client liaison, with structured training and mentoring. Hybrid and flexible working options are available.

Qualifications

• Degree in structural or civil engineering.
• Graduate membership with IStructE or ICE.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good IT skills and confidence using engineering software.

• Understanding of UK building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural calculations, reports and drawings.

A well‑established multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced Graduate Structural Engineer to join its growing team in central Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside chartered engineers on a diverse range of projects while developing your technical expertise towards professional chartership.

The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you'll support senior engineers in delivering a wide variety of projects across the built environment. You'll gain hands‑on experience throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design through to site inspections and client liaison.

Responsibilities

• Preparing structural calculations, reports and technical drawings.
• Assisting with structural design on a range of building projects.
• Carrying out site inspections and structural surveys.
• Liaising with architects, contractors, surveyors and other design professionals.
• Providing technical support to clients and project teams.
• Assisting with planning and Building Regulations submissions.
• Monitoring construction works and ensuring projects are delivered to the required standards.
• Supporting contract administration and project management activities.
• Ensuring projects comply with current legislation, including CDM Regulations and other relevant standards.
• Building strong relationships with clients through excellent communication and customer service.

About You

You're an ambitious graduate eager to develop your engineering career within a supportive consultancy environment.

• A degree (BEng, BSc or MEng) in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Graduate membership (or eligibility) with IStructE or ICE.
• Circa 2 years industry experience, ideally gained in a consultancy environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good IT skills and confidence using engineering software.
• The ability to manage your workload and work to project deadlines.
• An understanding of UK building regulations and structural design principles.
• A full UK driving licence.
