Job summary

Teaching Personnel in the United Kingdom is seeking a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning and develop independence. You will provide tailored support on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, adapting your approach to meet diverse needs throughout the school day.

This hands-on role requires confidence, adaptability, and a positive attitude, particularly when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours and personal care

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Confident, resilient and proactive approach.
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs.
  • Ability to manage and respond positively to challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Genuine passion for SEN education and supporting vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assist in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities
  • Implement and support Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
  • Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging situations effectively
  • Support pupils with personal care and physical needs when required
  • Encourage social, emotional, and communication development
  • Help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback on wellbeing and achievement
