Job summary

AECOM Limited in the UK is recruiting for a Graduate Rail Project Manager to join the Birmingham region on a Summer 2027 intake. The role sits on a Hybrid model and forms part of our widely connected transportation team working on major rail infrastructure projects.

You will gain exposure across the project lifecycle, supporting planning, cost control, risk management and stakeholder communications while developing professional qualifications and industry expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Management or a related discipline with a 2:1 (or equivalent).
• Masters qualification in a relevant discipline would be advantageous.
• Interest in infrastructure project delivery and rail transportation.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Selected candidates will be enrolled on our Graduate Development Programme and have the opportunity to develop their skills within a supporting environment which encourages challenge and collaborative behaviours.
• Working as part of multidisciplinary rail teams, candidates will gain experience across the project lifecycle, including: planning, delivery and monitoring of railway infrastructure projects.
• Assisting project managers with programme management, cost control and risk management activities.
• Supporting stakeholder engagement and client communications.
• Assisting with project reporting, governance and performance tracking.
• Contributing to the development of project plans, schedules and resource forecasts.
• Supporting multidisciplinary teams in delivering projects safely, efficiently and sustainably.
• Assisting with contract administration and project documentation.
• Developing an understanding of project controls, commercial management and rail delivery processes.
