Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Rail Mechanical Engineer for Birmingham/Manchester. You will join a multidisciplinary team on rail projects, contributing to mechanical design, systems like HVAC and building services, and using BIM tools to deliver safe and efficient railway infrastructure.

In this graduate programme you will develop technical and professional skills, work toward chartership with IMechE, and benefit from hybrid work options across UK locations as part of a global engineering leader.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in mechanical engineering with rail interest and good fundamentals.
• Demonstrated interest in rail and a pathway toward chartership.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development and delivery of mechanical systems for rail projects.
• Assist with HVAC, ventilation, drainage and related building services.
• Perform calculations, assessments and design studies per industry standards.
• Assist site surveys, inspections and asset management planning.
• Produce drawings and models using BIM and related software.
• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support construction coordination and commissioning activities.
• Promote sustainability and whole-life asset performance.
