Job summary

M‑Sport UK at Dovenby Hall seeks a Graduate Quality Control Engineer to join the Quality Control team. You will gain hands‑on experience in quality inspection, dimensional measurement, non‑conformance investigations and continuous improvement, contributing to the reliability and performance of competition cars.

You will interpret drawings, maintain inspection records, and work with engineers, designers and suppliers to resolve quality issues, delivering high standards on tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification required (BEng/MEng) in Motorsport Engineering, Mechanical or Automotive disciplines.
  • Genuine motorsport passion and drive to progress in a high‑performance engineering environment.
  • Willingness to learn, develop and tackle new challenges in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a practical, methodical approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with quality inspection of components, assemblies and completed work to meet drawings and quality standards.

  • Learn, develop and improve processes within the Quality Control Department.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and tolerances to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Identify, record and communicate quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Analyse inspection results and data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support system layout and integration across programmes.
  • Collaborate with technicians, suppliers and other departments to resolve quality issues.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally Raid, and a variety of global customer racing activities. As part of our Graduate Engineering Programme for the 2027/28 intake, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and driven Graduate Quality Control Engineer to join our Quality Control team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to develop their career within a high-performance motorsport environment, working at the interface between Engineering, Design and the Quality Control Department. You will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across quality inspection, dimensional measurement, non‑conformance investigation and continuous improvement, contributing to the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of M‑Sport’s competition cars.

The role responsibilities include:
  • Quality Inspection: Assist with the inspection of components, assemblies and completed work to ensure they meet specified drawings, tolerances and quality standards.

  • Project Support: Support planning and forecasting activities to help ensure projects remain on track and are delivered to the required standards and deadlines.

  • Process Improvement: Learn, develop and improve processes and procedures across the Quality Control Department.

  • Technical Drawings: Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances and other technical documentation to ensure components meet requirements.

  • Quality Documentation: Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation and associated reports in accordance with company standards.

  • Non-Conformance: Assist with identifying, recording and communicating quality issues and non‑conformances, supporting appropriate corrective actions.

  • Quality Analysis: Analyse inspection results and quality data to identify trends, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • System Integration: Support system layout, component selection and integration across multiple programmes.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with technicians, suppliers, Engineering, Design and other departments to identify and resolve quality issues.

Essential Criteria & Skills:
  • Engineering Qualification: BEng or MEng degree qualification in Motorsport Engineering/Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Motorsport Passion: A genuine passion for motorsport and a drive to progress within a high‑performance engineering environment.

  • Willingness to Learn: Keen to learn, develop and take on new challenges within a fast‑paced and hands‑on engineering environment.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a practical and methodical approach to problem solving.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team‑building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across different departments.

  • Quality & Performance: Pride yourself on delivering a high standard of performance and quality whilst working to strict deadlines in a time‑sensitive environment.

  • Time Management: Ability to manage workloads effectively and deliver tasks to agreed deadlines.

  • IT Literacy: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software packages.

Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience within the motorsport or automotive industry, including an industrial placement year.

  • Hands‑on practical motorsport experience, such as volunteering on race weekends or Formula Student.

  • Fundamental understanding of quality control, inspection and manufacturing or engineering process.
