Job summary

M-Sport UK, based at Dovenby Hall, is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical team in a high-performance motorsport setting. You will build, develop and test electrical systems and components for competition cars, while supporting project planning and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Motorsport/Automotive/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with build, development and testing of electrical systems and components across competition cars.
  • Support planning and forecasting to keep projects on track and within deadlines.
  • Learn, develop and improve processes in the Electrical Department.
  • Prepare and issue technical documentation, drawings, specifications and build information.
  • Conduct quality and build checks to ensure electrical systems meet required standards.
  • Assist with tracking and lifing of electrical components to support reliability.
  • Analyse and report issues to support improvements in system reliability and performance.
  • Support system layout, component selection and integration across programmes.
  • Collaborate with technicians, suppliers and other departments to ensure electrical functionality.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally Raid, and a variety of global customer racing activities. As part of our Graduate Engineering Programme for the 2027/28 intake, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and driven Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to develop their career within a high-performance motorsport environment, working at the interface between Engineering, Design and the Electrical Department. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the build, development and testing of electrical systems and components, contributing to the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of M-Sport’s competition cars.

The role responsibilities include:
  • Electrical Systems: Assist with the build, development and testing of electrical systems and components used across M-Sport’s competition cars.

  • Project Support: Support planning and forecasting activities to help ensure projects remain on track and are delivered to the required standards and deadlines.

  • Process Improvement: Learn, develop and improve processes and procedures across the Electrical Department.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and issue technical documentation, drawings, specifications and build information relating to electrical systems and components.

  • Quality & Build Checks: Conduct quality and build checks to ensure electrical systems and components meet the required standards.

  • Component Tracking & Lifing: Assist with the tracking and lifing of electrical components to support reliability, accuracy and effective component management.

  • Analysis & Reporting: Analyse and report on issues to support improvements in system reliability and overall performance.

  • System Integration: Support system layout, component selection and integration across multiple programmes.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with technicians, suppliers, Engineering, Design and other departments to ensure electrical system functionality and reliability.

Essential Criteria & Skills:
  • Engineering Qualification: BEng or MEng degree qualification in Motorsport Engineering/Technology, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Motorsport Passion: A genuine passion for motorsport and a drive to progress within a high-performance engineering environment.

  • Willingness to Learn: Keen to learn, develop and take on new challenges within a fast-paced and hands-on engineering environment.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a practical and methodical approach to problem solving.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across different departments.

  • Quality & Performance: Pride yourself on delivering a high standard of performance and quality whilst working to strict deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.

  • Time Management: Ability to manage workloads effectively and deliver tasks to agreed deadlines.

  • IT Literacy: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software packages.

Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience within the motorsport or automotive industry, including an industrial placement year.

  • Hands‑on practical motorsport experience, such as volunteering on race weekends or Formula Student.

  • Fundamental understanding of electrical and electronic systems, circuits and electrical principles.
