Job summary

KPI RECRUITING LTD is seeking a Graduate Primary School Teaching Assistant in Leeds. The role supports learning across the primary curriculum, assisting teachers, and fostering pupils’ academic, social and emotional development. It offers a pathway toward teacher training or further study.

You will work across EYFS to KS2, deliver targeted interventions, and support SEND pupils with patience and empathy. Term-time only, with a Oct 2026 start, and weekly pay up to £560.

Qualifications

• 2:1 degree from a UK university in Primary Education, Early Childhood Studies or related subjects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and resilience; proactive and enthusiastic about learning.

The Role

As a Graduate Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across the primary curriculum while contributing positively to pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff, supporting both whole-class learning and targeted intervention programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
• Deliver small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy and phonics
• Provide one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
• Assist children with additional needs including:
• Speech and Language Difficulties
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
• Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence
• Support behaviour management and positive learning behaviours
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make sustained progress
• Support children's social, emotional and personal development throughout the school day

Candidate Requirements

A minimum

2:1 degree from a UK university in one of the following subjects:

• Primary Education
• Early Childhood Studies
• Other related subjects

You should also possess:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
• Patience, empathy and resilience
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning
• Ambitions to pursue a career in Teaching, Educational Psychology, SEN, or a related field

• Previous experience working with children through:
• Youth work
• Childcare environments
• Experience supporting children with SEND

• Understanding of the primary curriculum
• Knowledge of inclusive education practices
