Job summary

Origin Environmental in Cardiff is seeking a Planning Assistant to support senior staff and contribute to a range of planning projects. You will help prepare planning applications, site appraisals, and environmental reports, while assisting with stakeholder engagement and client liaison.

The role requires a planning degree, enthusiasm, and a drive to progress toward RTPI or IPI membership, with a full driving licence and the ability to work both independently and within a growing team.

• Support Senior Planning staff on daily duties.
• Assist with pre-application submissions and attend meetings with senior staff.
• Compile Site Appraisals and undertake site visits.
• Assist with Planning Statements, EIAs and environmental reports for clients.
• Support Stakeholder Engagement and Community Consultation reporting.
• Liaise with clients, internal staff and subcontractors.
• Organise and schedule workload and prepare planning applications.
• Assist with tender and fee proposal production.

Essential Criteria

• Planning degree
• Desire to work towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or the Irish Planning Institute (IPI)
• Enthusiastic and ambitious
• Knowledge of the UK and/or Irish Planning system
• The successful candidate will be required to produce reports for clients and so attention to detail, reliability, and good organisational skills are essential.
• Willingness and ability to work independently and in a growing team environment
• Full driving license
• Interest in Renewable Energy

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in the production of fee proposals or tenders
• Solar farm and/or wind energy experience
