Job summary

Step into Teaching is recruiting a Graduate Personal Progress Tutor to support students at a Birmingham college. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday during the 26/27 academic year, offering valuable classroom experience and a pathway into education.

You will design and deliver group and 1:1 tutorials focusing on personal development, wellbeing, attendance, and study skills, working with students, parents, and staff in a safeguarding-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the design and delivery of an engaging group and 1:1 tutorial curriculum to groups of students to encourage personal development, growth and a positive transition into adulthood.
  • To provide advice and guidance on ongoing support for students with pastoral issues including safeguarding and mental health concerns.
  • To monitor academic performance and progress of students and support staff and students to help them meet their full potential.
  • To work with students, parents/carers, and colleagues to ensure good punctuality, attendance and behaviour and meet deadlines.
  • To assist in personal and social development by providing guidance and time-management support.
  • To participate in pastoral team quality activities to ensure delivery is of high quality.

The Role
  • To contribute to the design and delivery of an engaging group and 1:1 tutorial curriculum to groups of students to encourage personal development, growth and a positive transition into adulthood.
  • To provide advice, guidance on ongoing support for students who are experiencing a range of pastoral issues including supporting students with safeguarding and mental health concerns.
  • To monitor the academic performance and progress of students and provide support to staff and students to ensure that student meet their full potential.
  • To work closely with students, their parents/carers, and colleagues to ensure the students maintain good punctuality, attendance and behaviour in all aspects of their studies and meet assignment and other agreed deadlines.
  • To assist in the personal and social development of students by providing appropriate guidance and support, help with time management and organisation of their studies
  • To actively participate in the pastoral team quality activities to ensure that all delivery is of a consistently high quality.
