Job summary

Randstad Education in Bromley, London, seeks a Student Achievement Support Tutor for term-time, full-time work at a Further Education college. You will help post-16 learners overcome barriers, develop study skills and progress to higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

  • Manage a tutorial caseload averaging 15 groups (~300 students).
  • Conduct structured 1-to-1 mentoring sessions with SMART targets.
  • Lead attendance and behaviour interventions with curriculum teams and communicate with parents/carers.

Job Title: Student Achievement Support Tutor

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £33762 - £44027 (Spine Point 24 to 26)

The Opportunity

We are partnering with an established Further Education provider in Bromley to recruit a dedicated Student Achievement Tutor on a term-time-only basis. In this vital role, you will empower post-16 students to overcome learning barriers, build key life skills, and successfully progress into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. Serving as the main bridge between academic departments and pastoral care, you will play a transformative role in guiding young people toward achieving their full potential.

About the Setting

The college offers an inclusive, highly supportive learning environment focused on high academic standards and student welfare. Working as part of a collaborative pastoral team, you will liaise closely with curriculum specialists, wellbeing staff, and external support agencies to deliver holistic guidance and tailored student interventions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging weekly group tutorials covering safeguarding, pastoral care, social action, study skills, and career preparation.
  • Manage a tutorial caseload averaging 15 groups (approximately 300 students in total).
  • Conduct structured 1-to-1 mentoring sessions to set SMART targets and monitor student academic progress throughout the year.
  • Lead attendance and behaviour interventions alongside curriculum teams, maintaining direct communication with parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Monitor vulnerable student cohorts, acting as the initial point of contact for pastoral concerns and signposting to internal wellbeing or safeguarding teams.
  • Track student completion of work experience, Gatsby benchmark activities, UCAS personal statements, and stretch-and-challenge projects.
  • Attend student disciplinary meetings and support key college events such as Open Days and enrolment periods.
What We Are Looking For
  • Qualifications & Knowledge: Minimum Level 2 in literacy and numeracy (essential). A relevant degree (e.g., Youth Work) or prior experience within Further Education is desirable.
  • Characteristics & Skills: Demonstrable experience facilitating group workshops and delivering 1-to-1 support to young people. Strong communication skills, calm authority under pressure, and an empathetic approach.
  • Transport & Commute: Ability to commute reliably to Bromley, London. Flexible availability during peak college calendar events such as Open Days and enrolment.
