Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a Graduate Pastoral & Behaviour Mentor to support students who may struggle with behaviour, engagement or attendance. This role offers a clear route into teaching, pastoral care or SEND.

You will work closely with teachers and the pastoral team, providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring, building positive relationships and helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence in a calm, inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

  • A graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree.
  • Passionate about working with and supporting young people.
  • Confident, approachable and an excellent communicator.
  • Resilient and patient, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Able to build strong relationships with students from a range of backgrounds.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and willing to get involved in school life.
  • Interested in developing a long-term career within education or pastoral support.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to students who need additional support.
  • Support students to manage their behaviour and make positive choices.
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Work alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to identify and address barriers to learning.
  • Support students who may have additional needs or challenging circumstances.
  • Maintain a positive, calm and inclusive school environment.
  • Act as a consistent and positive role model for young people.
