Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Mechanical Engineer graduate to join the Tunnel Ventilation team in Croydon. You will design ventilation systems for road, rail, metro and cable tunnels, performing calculations and simulations to understand airflow and smoke movement, under senior engineers’ guidance.

Qualifications

• Less than 12 months of relevant experience (excluding placements).
• Bachelor's or master's degree (obtained no earlier than 2025) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Openness to rotations across disciplines and pursuing Chartered Engineer status.
• Proactive, communicates clearly, and demonstrates structured problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to ventilation design for road, rail, metro and cable tunnels.
• Perform engineering calculations and 1D simulations of airflow and smoke movement.
• Support development from concept to detailed equipment layouts and operating strategies.
