Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Public Health) to lead tunnel systems MEP design, ensuring technical quality and compliance across the full project lifecycle. You will oversee fire mains, drainage, and associated public health systems while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires chartered status or equivalent, and experience delivering large rail projects with multidisciplinary teams. Occasional UK travel is involved.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified with membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IMechE, CIBSE).
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in foul water ejector and surface water pumped systems.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and BIM environments.

Responsibilities

• Leading teams of engineers and technicians on tunnel systems projects.
• Managing multi-disciplinary project teams and coordinating interfaces.
• Producing design solutions, reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Presenting technical solutions to clients and stakeholders.
• Participating in design team meetings and ensuring adherence to principles.
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers.
