Job summary

Arup in Manchester is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Building Services Engineer to contribute to sustainable building design. You will join a multidisciplinary team, develop HVAC concepts, and support low-energy, low-carbon strategies across commercial, residential, and research projects.

From day one you’ll work with experienced engineers, gain exposure to Revit, IESVE, and other tools, and pursue professional accreditation while building your career in a global consultancy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural, or Building Services Engineering (strong Bachelors considered).
• Accredited course such as IMechE, CIBSE or Engineering Council is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design concepts focused on low energy and low carbon ideas.
• Complete HVAC system design and calculations.
• Utilise software/tools to analyse and optimise solutions.
• Develop system designs in 3D using Revit.
• Perform thermal and building regulation modelling (IESVE or similar).
• Prepare mark-ups and coordinate with the design team.
• Contribute to decarbonisation strategies for operational and embodied carbon.
• Conduct site visits and prepare reports.
