KPI Education is recruiting an exceptional Graduate Maths Teaching Assistant to join a high-performing secondary school and sixth form in Islington, North London, for the 2026/27 academic year.
This is far more than a conventional classroom support role.
The school wants a mathematically strong graduate who can become an academic role model, support pupils who lack confidence and stretch some of the school's most able mathematicians.
If teaching is potentially in your future, this is an opportunity to spend a full academic year finding out just how good you could be.
Your role will be varied and academically focused.
One lesson could see you helping Year 10 pupils understand simultaneous equations; the next, you might be delivering a GCSE intervention to students approaching their final examinations.
You could work individually with a pupil whose confidence in Maths has disappeared before later challenging high-achieving students with advanced problem-solving.
As your confidence grows, there may also be opportunities to plan and deliver sections of lessons under teacher supervision.
The aim is simple: by the end of the year, you should understand far more about teaching Mathematics than you ever could from simply observing a classroom.
Based in Islington, the school combines high expectations with a commitment to creating opportunities for pupils from a wide range of backgrounds.
Mathematics plays an important role within the curriculum, with pupils encouraged to develop not only examination technique but also their logical reasoning, analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
You’ll join an experienced department that is keen to develop talented graduates who may become the next generation of Maths teachers.
A First-Class or 2:1 degree in Mathematics, or a closely related numerical discipline, is highly desirable.
Previous school experience isn’t essential.
What matters is that you’re academically strong, confident, reliable and able to explain difficult concepts clearly. You’ll need genuine enthusiasm for Mathematics and the ability to communicate that enthusiasm to young people.
For an aspiring Maths teacher, this could be the ideal bridge between university and teacher training.
If you’ve spent years developing your mathematical ability, why not use it to help someone else discover theirs?
Strong Maths graduates will be considered immediately for 2026/27 positions.
