Job description

Are you a graduate engineer who is as interested in how a product actually gets built as in how it is designed? Do you find yourself the person who ends up running the team, chasing the parts, holding the plan and making sure the thing is finished on time? Ideally, you have been part of your university's Formula Student, EcoRacing or robotics team, perhaps as a team principal, chief engineer or project lead, and you now want to do that in industry.

We're looking for a graduate Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive engineering student with program management experience. Ideally, you are part of your university’s Formula student team or have worked on projects related to automotive, motorsport or energy storage; and want to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

This is a rare opportunity to sit at the centre of a real engineering programme from day one. You will work directly alongside our Engineering Program Manager and our electrical, mechanical, software and production engineers, coordinating the work that turns a design into a manufactured product. You will see the whole system, not one corner of it, and you will be given real responsibility from the start.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain engineering project plans, including schedules, milestones, dependencies and critical path.
  • Run and minute engineering stand-ups and design reviews, capture actions and chase closure.
  • Track open issues, risks and decisions across the programme and keep the risk register current.
  • Prepare weekly progress reporting and simple engineering KPIs for the leadership team.
  • Support coordination of concurrent workstreams across electrical, mechanical, software and build.
  • Work with discipline engineers to capture and maintain system and subsystem requirements.
  • Support design reviews by preparing packs, collating comments and tracking resolution.
  • Assist with engineering studies, component comparisons and selection rationale.
  • Support build, test and commissioning activities on the shop floor, including troubleshooting.
  • Help prepare test plans, validation evidence and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain the Bill of Materials and support engineering change requests through to release.
  • Keep version control disciplined across drawings, documents and software releases.
  • Write and improve work instructions and assembly documentation with the production team.
  • Act as a clear point of contact between engineering, production, commercial and external partners.
  • Prepare concise updates for internal stakeholders, customers and project partners.

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with battery systems, BMS, power electronics or high voltage safety.
  • Exposure to CAD, PLM, ERP or MRP systems.
  • Awareness of project management methods such as GANTT planning, risk management, V-model development and change control.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Any interest towards an APM or PRINCE2 qualification.
Personal Attributes
  • Engineering mindset, with a bias towards getting to the answer rather than talking about it.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-moving start-up.
  • Naturally organised, detail-oriented and reluctant to let anything slip.
  • Collaborative and credible across the business, from the shop floor to the boardroom.
  • Passionate about sustainable technology and clean energy.
