Arup in Leeds is seeking a Graduate Infrastructure Electrical Engineer to help design electrical systems for essential infrastructure. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to projects in water, energy, and industrial sectors, and develop towards professional accreditation.

You’ll gain real project experience, with CAD/BIM design, calculations, and technical reporting, while collaborating with senior engineers to deliver outcomes for clients and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (2.1 or above).
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (2:1 or above) would be advantageous.
• Integrated Master's degree in electrical engineering or similar.
• Your degree should be IET-accredited or meet equivalent requirements.
• Good understanding of CAD and BIM and experience of design projects.
• Some experience with coding languages would be an advantage.

The Opportunity

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you'll help design the electrical systems that keep essential infrastructure running. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to projects across water, energy, power and industrial infrastructure, developing practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and specialists, building your technical capability through real project experience while developing towards professional accreditation. We offer our clients a broad spectrum of expertise and consulting services in, but not limited to, the following industries:

• Water - water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, reservoirs, water distribution;


• Energy – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hydro, CHP, waste-to-energy, solar PV, hydrogen, wind, new molecules;


• Power – HV/LV Transmission and Distribution;


• Industrial Clients – electrical infrastructure supporting manufacturing and process facilities such as steam generation, chemical handling;

Process - food and beverage processing;

Our clients include water companies, energy generators, energy infrastructure owners, rail infrastructure owners, Government agencies and councils, process industries and renewable energy investors.

Depending on the project, you could be involved in electrical calculations, equipment selection, producing specifications and designs, BIM and digital modelling, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, preparing technical reports and supporting site activities. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experts.

Is this role right for you?

We're looking for graduates with curiosity, personal drive and technical know-how, plus the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Science, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering, Communications Engineering (2.1 or above)


• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Science, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering, Communications Engineering (2:1 or above) would be advantageous


• Integrated Master's degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Engineering or similar subjects.


• Studying, or have studied, an IET accredited course. Your degree should be accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), or meet equivalent academic requirements.


• A good understanding of CAD and BIM and experience of design projects would be beneficial.


• Some experience with coding languages would be an advantage


• Confidence using common digital tools and an enthusiasm for learning new engineering software, including tools for 3D design and digital automation.


• Enthusiasm for a career in electrical engineering, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work


• Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to find efficiencies in processes


• The aptitude to work on your own initiative and work proactively


• Due to the need for remote site visits a full driving licence would be beneficial

• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role


• Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
