Job summary

Arup is seeking a Graduate Infrastructure Electrical Engineer to join its Energy, Water & Resources team in the UK. You will help design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, support pumping stations and energy infrastructure, and contribute to power distribution and automation solutions.

The role offers exposure to renewables, hydrogen, and decarbonisation projects while developing professional accreditation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or similar.

Responsibilities

• Assist design of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment works.
• Support power distribution, MCCs, cable systems, earthing and lighting designs through calculations and equipment selection.
• Assist specification and integration of instrumentation and control systems.
• Collaborate with process and mechanical engineers to monitor and control treatment processes.

Our Electrical Engineers apply their specialist skills to infrastructure projects across the globe. We offer our clients a broad spectrum of expertiseand consulting services in, but not limited to, the following industries:

• Water - water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, reservoirs, waterdistribution;
• Energy - hydro, CHP, waste-to-energy, solar PV, hydrogen. wind,gas;
• Power – HV/LV Transmission andDistribution;
• Industrial Clients – steam generation, chemicalhandling;
• Process - food and beverageprocessing;

Our clients include water companies, energy generators, energy infrastructure owners, rail infrastructure owners, Government agencies and councils, processindustriesand renewable energy investors.

You'llwork with team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experts.

The team are typically involved in:

• Designing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment works.
• Supporting pumping stations, reservoirs, flood resilience assets and water transmission schemes.
• Producing power distribution, motor control, cable, lighting and earthing designs.
• Delivering instrumentation, control and automation solutions alongside electrical design.
• Working with ICA specialists to ensure treatment processes and pumping systems can be operated, monitored and controlled safely and efficiently

The team is looking to expand beyond its traditional water focus into energy-related work. Areas highlighted in team strategy documents include renewables, hydrogen, hydropower, heat networks, energy storage and decarbonisation projects.

As a graduate in this team you will:

• Assist with the design of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment works.
• Support power distribution, motor control centres (MCCs), cable systems, earthing and lighting designs. by carrying out electrical calculations and equipment selection under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Support the specification and integration of instrumentation and control systems.
• Work with process and mechanical engineers to ensure treatment processes can be monitored and controlled effectively.
• Contribute to design packages from concept through to detailed design.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes: A minimum 2:1 in a Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant academic discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or similar.
