Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Graduate / Early Career HPC Systems Engineer to join our High Performance Computing team. This role targets a recent graduate or up to 2 years' experience in infrastructure or HPC to grow within a world-class engineering environment.

You'll support CFD, AI, and engineering workloads on Linux-based HPC platforms and develop automation and scripting to boost efficiency. You'll work with experienced HPC specialists across Linux, storage, networking and automation,

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Strong Linux knowledge from study, projects, internships, research or commercial experience.
• Experience with Python and/or Shell scripting.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in infrastructure, HPC or large-scale computing environments.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Exposure to HPC environments, clusters or supercomputing technologies.
• Understanding of computer architecture, CPUs, GPUs, memory and storage technologies.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with system monitoring tools.
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or infrastructure automation tools.
• Understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL).
• Experience working with batch schedulers or Linux package management.
• Knowledge of parallel file systems and enterprise storage technologies.

Job Description

We are looking for a Graduate / Early Career HPC Systems Engineer to join our High Performance Computing (HPC) team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, Linux enthusiast, or someone with up to 2 years' experience in infrastructure, systems administration, or HPC to develop their career in a world-class engineering environment.

You'll help support and optimise the computing platforms that underpin McLaren Racing's Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), simulation, AI and engineering workloads. Working alongside experienced HPC specialists, you'll gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies across Linux, supercomputing, storage, networking and automation.

This role is primarily infrastructure-focused and offers a fantastic opportunity to build broad technical expertise in high-performance computing. While previous HPC experience is beneficial, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong Linux knowledge, technical curiosity, and a passion for learning.
