McLaren Racing is seeking a Graduate / Early Career HPC Systems Engineer to join its High Performance Computing team. This role suits Linux enthusiasts and recent graduates with up to 2 years in infra, to grow in a world-class engineering environment.

You will support CFD, simulation, AI and engineering workloads, working with experienced HPC specialists across Linux, storage, networking and automation. A strong Linux foundation and curiosity are valued.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong Linux knowledge gained through study, projects, internships, research or commercial experience.
  • Experience with Python and/or Shell scripting.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • An interest in infrastructure, systems administration, HPC or large-scale computing environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation of McLaren Racing's HPC infrastructure.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware, software and system issues.
  • Assist with the deployment and upgrade of HPC hardware and software technologies.
  • Help optimise platform performance and identify system bottlenecks.
  • Provide technical support and Linux guidance to engineering users.
  • Monitor system health and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Learn about emerging HPC technologies and contribute to evaluating new solutions.

Job description

We are looking for a Graduate / Early Career HPC Systems Engineer to join our High Performance Computing (HPC) team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, Linux enthusiast, or someone with up to 2 years' experience in infrastructure, systems administration, or HPC to develop their career in a world-class engineering environment.

You'll help support and optimise the computing platforms that underpin McLaren Racing's Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), simulation, AI and engineering workloads. Working alongside experienced HPC specialists, you'll gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies across Linux, supercomputing, storage, networking and automation.

This role is primarily infrastructure-focused and offers a fantastic opportunity to build broad technical expertise in high-performance computing. While previous HPC experience is beneficial, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate strong Linux knowledge, technical curiosity, and a passion for learning.

What You'll Bring:
Essential

  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or infrastructure automation tools.
  • Understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Experience working with batch schedulers or Linux package management.
  • Knowledge of parallel file systems and enterprise storage technologies.
