About the Role – We are seeking a Graduate Health and Safety Consultant to join the Fairhurst team in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to kick-start their careers in a supportive environment under the guidance of experienced directors and a dedicated team of Health & Safety consultants, engineers and technicians. As you progress and gain experience you can expect to be active on a number of projects and with a number of clients at any given time.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Providing H&S consultancy support to clients with their planning and delivery of major public events held across the globe.
  2. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure appropriate sharing of knowledge and best practice.
  3. Travel throughout the UK and internationally on short-term site based assignments, when required for individual project needs.
  4. Assisting in the delivery of CDM Adviser/Principal Designer services on a broad range of construction related projects, in accordance with the requirements of the Construction, (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  5. Supporting a broad range of other H&S related consultancy services to our clients, including:
  6. Development, delivery and auditing of corporate H&S management systems.
  7. Training development and delivery.
  8. Attend and participate in forums and meetings, both internal and external, as required.
  9. Undertake CPD activities to maintain knowledge and skills required for the role and to develop further skills and experience on matters relating to Engineering and H&S/Risk Management.
  10. Working with senior colleagues to help target and achieve the continuous growth of the business/H&S consultancy team and working in support of senior colleagues to prepare and submit proposals in pursuit of new clients and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  1. Recognised H&S/Risk management qualifications and a desire to further enhance overall levels of competence, skills and experience.
  2. Working towards a Chartered Membership with a recognised industry body.
  3. Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure and with a desire to further develop knowledge and skills in Engineering and H&S Management sectors.
  4. A proactive approach to the implementation of all aspects of H&S management.
  5. An ability to work within a busy department.
  6. Ability to work as part of a co-ordinated team.
  7. Delivery of assigned tasks on time and to budget.
  8. Provide support to senior staff.
  9. Use initiative with ability to work independently, when required.
  10. Be familiar and comfortable with the use of IT systems including main MS Office software packages.
  11. Good report writing and communication skills, both written and oral, required.
  12. Ability to travel to project sites, including those located overseas, is essential. This includes the ability to work away from the base office for short-term assignments.
  13. UK valid driving licence essential.
