Health & Safety Advisor

Salary: £34,520–£43,151 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Edinburgh EFW, EH22 1SX

At FCC Environment, as a Health & Safety Advisor, you will advise Managers and Supervisors on safety, health, and welfare matters to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, a safe working environment, and staff, contractor, and visitor wellbeing.

This is a full-time position, working 5 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Advising Managers and Supervisors on health and safety compliance
  • Staying updated on relevant legislation and advising on changes
  • Supporting operational teams to improve safety standards
  • Conducting safety inspections, audits, and reporting
  • Investigating accidents and near misses
  • Developing a strong safety culture
  • liaising with regulatory authorities
  • Providing staff training and guidance
  • Monitoring safety performance and developing initiatives
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Membership of IOSH
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Experience in a similar advisory role, preferably in Waste Disposal, Recycling, Collections, or Quarries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving license
