Job summary

AECOM is seeking graduates for Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology roles in the UK, with a focus on the London area and hybrid work arrangements. The programme covers ground investigation design, interpretation and modelling, and offers exposure to landmark infrastructure projects.

You will work within the Ground Engineering team on desk studies, fieldwork supervision, and data analysis, while aiming to develop professional qualifications with ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or higher.
• An MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and competent use of AutoCAD/Civil 3D software is desirable.
• Candidates with prior ground engineering work experience are preferred, though this is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mapping.
• Design, planning and procurement of ground investigations.
• Supervision of ground investigation fieldwork.
• Geological interpretation and preparation of interpretative reports.
• Analysis of geotechnical data and design of ground engineering solutions including foundations and earthworks.
• Use of digital software for ground investigation data management and 3D geological modelling.

Education

Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology degree

MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology
