Job summary

IGE Consulting is seeking a proactive geoscience graduate to join our team in Manchester. The role focuses on coordinating ground investigations from Phase 1 desk studies to Phase 2 intrusive works and monitoring activities across the UK, with exposure to reporting and data interpretation.

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, detail-focused and able to work both in teams and independently, with a driving license and a willingness to develop fieldwork techniques and data management skills.

Qualifications

  • First degree in Geology or related subject, ideally with practical modules encompassing field work.
  • A full, clean Driving License.
  • Based within an easily commutable distance to Manchester City Centre

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordination, supervision and management of ground investigations, including Phase 1 (desk-top) studies, Phase 2 (intrusive) investigations and subsequent monitoring and remediation works.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are followed during all field work practices.
  • Accurate and precise recording of fieldwork data, and clear, concise presentation of such data.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and staff in both office and field settings.
  • Preparing client reports, including environmental risk assessments, remedial recommendations, foundation recommendations and coal mining risk assessments.
  • Assisting senior staff with preparations of reports, drawings, models and fee

Due to on-going growth, there is an opportunity for a confident individual looking to kick-start their career in the geo-environmental industry to join our team. Upon joining IGE Consulting, you will:

  • Discover the fundamentals of the geo-environmental industry, including contaminated land risk assessment and geotechnical design;
  • Be given the chance to learn and develop professionally in a practical, hands-on manner in both the office and our sites across the UK; and
  • Participate in a variety of challenging and innovative projects across residential, commercial and civil engineering industries, including having opportunities to see projects through the entire life-cycle of a construction programme.

The ideal individual for this role will be:

  • Attentive to fine details across all work they produce;
  • A pragmatic thinker capable of anticipating problems ahead of time and determining appropriate & cost-effective solutions;
  • Willing to develop their proficiency in fieldwork techniques, production and management of data and both factual and interpretative reporting; and
  • Able to develop an understanding of the commercial considerations associated with projects, with an appreciation of the importance of value for money.
