Job summary

Society of Economic Geologists, Inc. in Manchester is seeking a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant to lead geo-environmental and contaminated land projects from inception to completion.

You will plan, supervise intrusive site investigations, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams while maintaining budgets and schedules. The role requires UK regulatory knowledge, excellent report writing, and strong client-facing leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of UK contaminated land legislation and regulations.
• Excellent report writing and technical interpretation skills.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Managing geo-environmental and contaminated land projects from inception to completion.
• Planning, supervising and coordinating intrusive site investigations.
• Undertaking contaminated land risk assessments and remediation strategies.
• Interpreting geological, geotechnical and environmental data.
• Preparing Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigation reports and technical interpretations.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentoring and supporting junior consultants and engineers.
• Managing project budgets, programmes and resource allocation.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and health and safety standards.
• Supporting business development and client relationship management.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience working as a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant or in a similar geo-environmental role
• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geo-Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation and UK regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing site investigations and contaminated land risk assessments
• Excellent report writing and technical interpretation skills
• Strong project management and client-facing experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK
