Graduate Fire Engineer / Fire Systems Consultant - Bicester

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable Graduate Fire Engineer/Fire Systems Consultant to join our team, who possesses a recognised fire safety engineering qualification. You will be supporting our experts across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, therefore it is key you are able to work efficiently as part of a team, as well as independently. The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

• Provide continuous high quality fire engineering services to our customers, including but not limited to:
  • Develop fire safety strategies and associated mark-ups for various buildings and infrastructure projects
  • Provide advisory support and carry out site visits during construction stage
  • Prepare assessment reports of external wall systems
  • Prepare other technical engineering analysis such as CFD modelling, structural fire engineering etc. using programs such as FDS/PyroSim, Pathfinder, SAFIR, B-Risk

• In collaboration with the Director of Fire Engineering, developing a dedicated sector for active fire protection systems consulting, including services such as:
  • Assisting clients, Principal Designers, or Principal Contractors in reviewing active fire protection system submissions
  • Providing strategic advice to help clients select and implement the most suitable active fire protection solutions in line with project-specific requirements
  • Supporting the integration of active fire protection design within the overall fire strategy and project delivery process
• Have a basic understanding of fire safety issues and provide well supporting fire engineering solutions through a selection of appropriate methods and tools
• Have a basic understanding of relevant legislation and design guidance such as Approved Document B (ADB), BS 9999, BS 999 1 and BS 7974
• Prepare fee proposals

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil, or a similar field)
• A post graduate fire engineering qualification (certificate, diploma or masters)
• Involvement with a professional body
• Confident communicator, good customer service skills
• Self-motivated, able to prioritise and work on own initiative, as well as following instructions and working as part of a team
• Numerate and organised with attention to detail
• Professional appearance and behaviour
• Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
