Job summary

1st Select is seeking a motivated Graduate Building Surveyor to join our building surveying team in Manchester. You will focus on fabric condition surveys across a range of properties, inspecting buildings and recording condition information.

The role offers hands-on experience and progression under experienced surveyors, with regular site inspections and travel to client properties. You will develop technical knowledge in building pathology, repair strategies and surveying practices,

Qualifications

Graduate or working towards a Building Surveying degree (RICS-accredited preferred).
Previous building surveying exposure is advantageous but not essential.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail.
Good IT skills including Word/Excel; willingness to learn surveying software.

Responsibilities

Undertake detailed visual inspections of building fabric, including roofs, walls, elevations and finishes.
Identify and record defects, deterioration and maintenance needs with clear notes and photos.
Assist with fabric condition survey reports, schedules of defects and recommendations.
Support development of maintenance programmes, lifecycle assessments and capital expenditure forecasts.
Travel to client properties for regular site inspections and surveys.
