Job summary

The Graduate Network is seeking a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant in Handsworth, Birmingham. You will support EYFS pupils with SEND and complex needs, helping them engage with play-based learning and follow school routines to build communication and independence.

The role suits a patient, resilient graduate aiming to gain SEND experience in a primary setting, with DBS requirements and immediate start until July 2027.

Qualifications

• 2:2 degree or higher in Psychology, Education, or Childhood Studies.
• Genuine interest in supporting EYFS pupils with SEND.
• Strong communication and a calm, nurturing approach.
• Ability to follow guidance and provide consistent support around individual needs.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Support EYFS pupils with SEND and complex needs.
• Help children engage with play-based learning.
• Follow routines and develop early communication, social and independence skills.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and the SEN team to provide consistent, caring support.
