Job summary

Arup is seeking a Graduate Engineer in Strategic Water Services to join our Early Careers program in the UK. You will work across policy, regulation, resilience, investment planning, engineering and asset management, collaborating with experts across Arup’s global network to influence water sector challenges.

From day one, you’ll develop through formal training and professional qualification support, while contributing to thought leadership and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for a career in Water, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work.
• Minimum of a 2:1 Bachelors degree or equivalent in Water, Process Engineering, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, OR; Masters or post-graduate Degree in a similar Water related discipline.
• Studying, or have studied, a course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent
• Interest in water sector regulation, business planning, price reviews, performance frameworks and long-term investment decisions.
• Motivation to help address climate resilience, environmental improvement, water security, affordability and sustainability challenges.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ability to use and interpret data, evidence and research.
• An appreciation of complex systems and the need to balance technical, environmental, social, economic and regulatory factors.
• Excellent communication skills, with a view to developing these towards eventually working with clients, regulators, partners and colleagues.
• Curiosity, initiative and an organised approach to delivering high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Generate advice for city and infrastructure clients on policy, regulatory, asset management and engineering issues.
