Job summary

ONYX Insight is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our EU Field Engineering team. This role involves hands-on field work, supporting wind farm operations and maintenance with asset condition assessments for onshore and offshore sites across Europe.

You will gain experience in installation of monitoring equipment, RAMS preparation, and delivering clear engineering reports. Travel and on-site work, often at height, are expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Renewable Energy Engineering or related field.
• HNC/HND or apprenticeship in a relevant engineering area.
• Strong interest in renewable energy and wind turbine technology.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles from study/projects.
• Clear, concise technical reporting and presentation skills.

• Conduct asset integrity inspections on offshore and European wind farms.

Job description

The Role:

We are expanding our team and are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join our EU Field Engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their skills and expertise in the renewable energy industry, providing critical advice to wind farm operations and maintenance teams on the condition of their assets particularly focussing on main bearings or gearboxes to ensure efficiency & safety. The projects are based both offshore and onshore all over the EU meaning there will be plenty of variety & opportunity to travel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct asset integrity inspections, including those on offshore and European wind farms, ensuring that equipment is performing at its best.
• Install hardware systems such as condition monitoring equipment on wind turbines, playing a hands-on role in enhancing turbine performance.
• Manage larger sensor installation projects, including preparation of RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements), and coordinate subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Support failure analysis and various consulting projects by providing on-site field engineering expertise.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality customer reports based on your engineering work, ensuring clear and concise communication with clients.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Alternatively, a HNC/HND qualification or completed apprenticeship in a relevant engineering field.
• A strong interest in renewable energy and wind turbine technology, with a desire to develop a career within the industry
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles gained through academic study, projects, placements, or internships
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings effectively
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn
• A genuine enthusiasm for hands-on engineering and working in field-based environments
• Ability to work on-site and at height in wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, and to work shifts as required, including weekends
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of regional and global teams
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential; knowledge of additional European languages (Spanish, German, or French) would be advantageous
• GWO certification is desirable.
