Job summary

Barhale is recruiting a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the Anglian Water project alliance in the East of England. You will work with experienced engineers across process, civil and electrical disciplines, gaining hands-on experience in electrical systems for major infrastructure projects.

Relocation or travel to Peterborough is welcomed to support project needs. As part of the graduate programme, you will develop technical knowledge, attend assessment centres, and progress toward

Qualifications

  • 2:2 degree or above in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a project engineering environment is required.
  • Technical knowledge across related disciplines and ability to work with Alliance teams.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to relocate or travel to Peterborough and East Anglia region.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design and delivery of electrical systems including power distribution and instrumentation.
  • Help select electrical equipment and coordinate with civil, mechanical, and process teams.
  • Perform site surveys, commissioning and technical inspections.
  • Support documentation, reports, and health and safety compliance.
  • Engage with contractors, clients and supply chain throughout project lifecycles.

Graduate Electrical Engineer
The Role

At @one Alliance, we bring together eight leading organisations to deliver Anglian Water’s capital investment programme across the East of England. Together, we’re delivering projects to help protect and improve one of the UK’s most important resources - water.

As aGraduate Electrical Engineeryou’ll be part of this exciting programme from the start, gaining hands‑on experience of Process Engineering across major infrastructure projects.

You’ll work alongside experienced Engineering professionals building your knowledge, developing your skills and working towards a successful career in Electrical Engineering.

You’ll be supported throughout your development, with opportunities to build your technical knowledge, gain professional experience and work towards your longer‑term career goals.

We welcome applications from candidates outside the region who are willing and able to relocate or travel to Peterborough and the East Anglia Region.

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to attend a number of assessment centres taking place on the following dates: 20 th November, 11 th December, 6 th January, 8 th January, 11 th January, 15 th January, and 18 th January.

Should you be successful in your application, please ensure that you are available to attend all these dates, as participation in the assessment centres forms an essential part of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and delivery of electrical systems, including power distribution, automation, and instrumentation
  • Assist with the specification and selection of electrical equipment
  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, and process engineering teams
  • Carry out site surveys, commissioning, and technical inspections
  • Support with documentation, reports, and health & safety compliance
  • Engage with contractors, clients (e.g. Anglian Water), and supply chain partners throughout project lifecycles
About you
Essential
  • A 2:2 degree or above BEng or MEng/MSc in Electrical Engineering.
  • Solid and strong evidence in a project engineering environment in relevant engineering discipline
  • Detailed technical knowledge. Knowledge of inter‑related engineering disciplines
  • Work in an open and collaborative way– practice integrated working with all Alliance teams and the client. Develop effective working relationships.
  • Apply rigour to key projects and tasks that require accurate and timely delivery and decision making
  • The ability to organise your workload and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn
  • An interest in infrastructure, construction or the built environment
  • A full UK driving licence, or the ability to travel between project locations where required
