Job summary
Barhale, a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, seeks a Graduate Civil Engineer for the @one Alliance Anglian Water programme in the East of England. You will gain hands-on experience across major infrastructure projects, working with seasoned engineers to build your career in civil engineering.

Qualifications
- A 2:2 degree or above in BEng or MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural engineering
- Good knowledge and experience of undertaking structural calculations for various concrete structures using British Standards/Eurocodes and related guidance
- Demonstrable design experience in Water/Wastewater civil structures and competency in engineering software tools such as TEDDS/Tecla, Staad Pro, AutoCAD, Robot, CIVIL3D, Revit
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and construction of water treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations, and flood defences
- Undertake site visits, inspections, and surveys to support project development
- Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports under guidance of senior engineers
- Work with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, environmental engineers
- Support project management and stakeholder engagement across delivery stages
- Ensure all work aligns with health, safety and environmental standards

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you’ll be part of this exciting programme from the start, gaining hands‑on experience of Civil Engineering across major infrastructure projects.
You’ll work alongside experienced Engineering professionals building your knowledge, developing your skills and working towards a successful career in Civil Engineering.
You’ll be supported throughout your development, with opportunities to build your technical knowledge, gain professional experience and work towards your longer-term career goals.

- Contribute to the design and construction of water treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations, and flood defences
- Undertake site visits, inspections, and surveys to support project development
- Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers
- Support project management and stakeholder engagement across various stages of delivery
- Ensure all work aligns with health, safety, and environmental standards
- A 2:2 degree or above in BEng or MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural engineering
- Good knowledge and experience of undertaking structural calculations for various concrete structures not limited to slabs, beams, liquid retaining structures, etc using the British Standard Codes, Eurocodes, and other acceptable standards not limited to Ciria Guidance, BRE, etc
- Demonstrable experience within your degree in undertaking design of various civil engineering structures within the Water and Wastewater Industry and exhibit high competency in the use of MS office suite and relevant engineering software packages not limited to TEDDS by Tecla, Staad Pro, AutoCAD, Robot, CIVIL3D, Revit, etc
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to organise your workload and meet deadlines
- A collaborative approach and willingness to learn
- An interest in infrastructure, construction or the built environment
- Full UK driving licence
