Job summary

Wates is offering a Planning Management Trainee position in Manchester/Birmingham. You will work with experienced planning professionals, developing programmes from tender to completion, and gaining exposure to pre-construction and construction activities.

You will learn to track milestones, identify risks, and support project controls while building technical and stakeholder management skills for a long-term career in planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree obtained by September 2027 with a 2:2 classification or above.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain construction programmes and schedules using industry-leading planning software.
• Monitor project progress, track milestones and identify risks or delays to delivery.
• Learn planning principles, methodologies and best practice in construction.
• Analyse project performance data and contribute to reports for decision-making and controls.
• Collaborate with project, design, commercial and delivery teams to reflect project requirements.
• Build relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Attend site visits to observe construction activities and delivery methods.
• Support planning meetings and discuss project progress, resource needs and improvements.

Education

Bachelor's degree with 2:2 or above
