Job summary

Ferrovial Construction UK&I is recruiting a Graduate Civils Structures Engineer for 2026 to support the HS2 Track project during its initial design phase. You will coordinate interfaces between civil structures and track systems, under supervision, onto a two-year development path.

You will contribute to design reviews, ICDs, and coordination meetings while developing skills across design, construction and handover stages.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of interfaces between railway track systems and civil structures.
  • Support the assessment of structural behaviour, including movements, settlement and joints.
  • Review drawings, models and interfaces to ensure compatibility.
  • Contribute to design reviews, workshops and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain interface documents, registers and tracking tools.
  • Identify risks and clashes at structural interfaces and track actions to closure.
  • Liaise with construction teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned with programme.
  • Support technical assurance across design, construction and handover stages.

Job Description

Graduate Civils Structures Engineer – 2026

Ferrovial Construction UK&I is the UK based engineering and construction arm of the Ferrovial Group, the largest private transport infrastructure operator in the world in terms of capital invested. We design and construct some of the UK and Ireland’s most high‑profile transport infrastructure projects and provide cost‑effective, value‑added solutions.

You will work on the HS2 Track infrastructure project during its initial design phase, supporting coordination and integration of interfaces between civil structures (viaducts, bridges, tunnels, earthworks) and the Standard Slab Track system. The 2‑year graduate development programme will develop your personal, professional and technical skills through a blended approach under the supervision of Section/Project Managers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assist in the coordination of interfaces between railway track systems and civil structures.
  • Support the assessment of structural behaviour, including bridging and viaduct movements, settlement effects, expansion joints, bearings and articulation systems.
  • Review engineering drawings, models and interface details to ensure compatibility.
  • Contribute to design reviews, technical workshops and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), interface registers and tracking tools.
  • Identify potential risks, constraints and clashes at structural interfaces.
  • Track actions and ensure timely closure of design coordination issues.
  • Liaise with construction and delivery teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned with programme requirements.
  • Support technical assurance processes across design, construction and handover stages.
  • Assist in reviewing monitoring reports, certificates and design documentation.
  • Support identification of project risks, changes and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical inputs for commercial processes such as NCRs, change events and departures.
  • Promote cost efficiency, buildability and value engineering solutions.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Contribute to safe‑by‑design principles and best practice engineering solutions.

Essential
  • Must have right to work in the UK by the start of employment and throughout the entirety of the graduate programme.
