Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join a specialist Flood Risk and Drainage team in Lichfield. You will work on a varied range of projects designed to reduce flood risk, improve resilience and provide practical engineering solutions.

You will gain experience across flood risk assessments, drainage design, SuDS, hydraulic modelling and site surveys, with a mix of office and site-based work and opportunities to develop towards ICE/CIWEM qualifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Genuine interest in flood risk, drainage and water environment.
• Good numerical, written and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence or working towards one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
• Perform surface water and foul drainage design.
• Contribute to SuDS design and flood modelling.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings and project documentation.
• Support projects through to construction and liaise with clients.

Graduate Civil Engineer - Flood Risk & Drainage

Location: Lichfield, Staffordshire
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 + benefits

Are you a Civil Engineering graduate looking to build a career in flood risk, drainage and water management?

An established specialist consultancy is looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join their Flood Risk and Drainage team in Lichfield. You'll work on a varied range of projects designed to reduce flood risk, improve resilience and provide practical engineering solutions.

The Role

Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain experience across:

• Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
• Surface water and foul drainage design
• Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
• Flood alleviation and drainage schemes
• Hydrological and hydraulic calculations
• Flood modelling and analysis
• Site surveys and inspections
• Developing and assessing engineering design options
• Producing technical reports, drawings and project documentation
• Supporting projects through to construction
• Working with clients, local authorities, contractors and other stakeholders

The role will give you a good mix of office and site-based work, with the opportunity to get involved in different areas of flood risk management rather than being limited to one type of project.

About You

We're looking for a Civil Engineering graduate who:

• Has a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Has a genuine interest in flood risk, drainage and the water environment
• Enjoys solving engineering problems and developing practical solutions
• Has good numerical, written and communication skills
• Is keen to gain hands-on site experience
• Is organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Has a full UK driving licence or is working towards one

Previous experience with drainage design, flood risk, hydraulic modelling, GIS or relevant software would be useful, but isn't essential.
