Job summary

This Hampshire-based consultancy is seeking a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join a seasoned team delivering UK-wide highway and drainage projects for private and public sector clients. You will work with AutoCAD, Microdrainage/Flow and Civil 3D to prepare assessments, plans and reports, support proposals, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering or Geography (2.1+), have 5 years UK experience, and demonstrate strong

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geography (2.1 or above).
• Excellent analytical and numeracy skills.
• Five years’ UK flood risk, drainage and highways experience.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information.

Responsibilities

• Write Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports for planning applications.
• Use AutoCAD, Microdrainage/Flow, Civil 3D for drainage and infrastructure designs.
• Liaise with and manage clients and third parties.
• Prepare fee proposals for Infrastructure Design and Flood Risk Assessments reports.
• Engage with stakeholders and project team members.
• Attend meetings, public consultations and exhibitions; undertake site visits.

The role

• Writing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy Reports to accompany planning applications.
• Using AutoCAD, Microdrainage /Flow, Civil 3D to undertake drainage and levels (infrastructure) designs.
• Liaising with / managing Clients / 3rd parties.
• Preparing fee proposals for Infrastructure Design and Flood Risk Assessments reports.
• Liaising with stakeholders, external project team members and clients.
• Representing the company at meetings, public consultations and exhibitions.
• Undertake site visits.
• Working collaboratively, supporting their Environmental teams with the production of Construction and Environmental Management Plans.

What you need to succeed

• A BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) degree at grade 2.1 or above in a relevant subject (e.g. Civil Engineering, Geography), additional qualifications are advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and numeracy skills.
• Proficient in design and producing high quality reports.
• At least five years’ experience in UK flood risk, drainage and highways, ideally with an understanding of residential development.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Effective communication skills are also essential to clearly convey technical information to clients and colleagues.
