Job summary

Moonbug Entertainment is seeking a forward‑thinking Animation Enthusiast to join the London production team. You will research, test, and implement cutting‑edge digital pipelines and tools while collaborating with animators, VFX artists, and technical directors to bridge storytelling and technology.

You will contribute to a culture of experimentation, documenting findings and sharing knowledge across the studio. Experience in kids content is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Animation, Computer Graphics, Visual Effects or related field.
• Strong understanding of animation principles and digital asset creation.
• Experience with modern software tools and pipelines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support emerging workflows by testing and implementing new tools and automated processes.
• Collaborate across art, animation and tech leadership to develop concepts, assets and look development.
• Run structured experiments with new software and document visual quality and performance.
• Document pipeline discoveries and present findings to creative and technical teams.

The Role:

We are looking for an ambitious, tech-forward Animation Enthusiast to join our forward-thinking production team in London.

The animation landscape is evolving faster than ever, and at Moonbug, we are constantly testing next-generation workflows to empower our creative teams. In this role, you will play a hands-on part in researching, testing, and implementing cutting-edge visual tools, automation techniques, and modern digital pipelines. Working closely with animators, visual effects artists, and technical directors, you will help bridge the gap between creative storytelling and emerging technology ensuring our studio stays at the forefront of digital production.

What You’ll Do:

• Support Emerging Workflows: Assist in testing and implementing novel digital tools, pipeline enhancements, and automated processes to optimize production efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with artists, animators, and technical leaders to research new methods for concept development, asset generation, and look development.
• R&D & Experimentation: Run structured experiments with emerging digital software, keeping detailed notes on visual quality, processing speed, and practical studio application.
• Knowledge Sharing: Document pipeline discoveries, prepare visual benchmarks, and present findings to the wider creative and technical teams.
• Creative Contribution: Participate actively in creative brainstorms, bringing fresh ideas on how modern tools can elevate our storytelling and visual style.
• Production Support: Help maintain asset management, task tracking, and pipeline organization while maintaining Moonbug’s high standards of quality.

What We’re Looking For:

• Educational Background: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Animation, Computer Graphics, Visual Effects, Digital Arts, Game Design, Creative Technologies, or a related discipline.
• Core Animation Knowledge: A clear understanding of core animation principles, layout, visual composition, and digital asset creation. With a strong interest in new or alternative technologies.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard creative packages such as Blender, Maya, Toon Boom Harmony, Unreal Engine, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Technical Curiosity: An active interest in modern software solutions, procedural workflows, image-generation techniques, or script-assisted art pipelines.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: Eager to learn complex visual toolsets quickly, troubleshoot pipeline roadblocks, and adapt to evolving technologies.
• Collaborative Spirit: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical creative teams.
• Understanding storytellingfor kids: The balance of developmentally appropriate content with genuine depth, pacing, using rich visuals, dynamic world-building, and subtle humor to engage both children and the adults watching with them.
• Experience in the kids sector is also beneficial.
