A local GP practice in Lincoln is seeking an enthusiastic Receptionist to join their team. The role involves acting as a mediator between patients and clinicians, managing appointments, and ensuring a welcoming environment. Candidates should have experience in a similar role and be proficient with clinical systems. This position is vital for maintaining efficient patient care and requires strong communication skills and a pleasant demeanor.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and hard-working Receptionist to join our friendly GP Practice team based in Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln.
To act as a mediatorbetween the clinicans and the patients and as an office organiser who manages thecrucial data regarding the health of patients within the practice.
Receive, assist anddirect patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professionalin a courteous, efficient and effective way.
The Heath Surgery is located close to Lincoln and provides the highest quality healthcare to patients in the area. Our doctors, nurses and all our other staff are dedicated to offering a professional service.
We are a well established practice having served both the Bracebridge Heath and St Catherines areas for many years.
1.Receivepatients requests for advice and assistance on the telephone or face to facein a prompt, friendly and efficient fashion.
2.Use thecomputerised appointments system (awareness of manual systems should thecomputer go down) to make appointments for patients with the medical staff.
3.Using yourown judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no priorappointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptivemanner.
4.Explainpractice arrangements for formal requirements to new patients and those seekingtemporary cover, including overseas visitors.Ensure procedures are completed.
5.Advisepatients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services)services, and deal with payments according to practice procedure.
6.Enterrequests for home visits into the visits section of the computer system statingall relevant information, and where necessary inform the doctor.
7.Ensureaccurate message taking for GPs and Nurses and communicate effectively.
8.Ensurethat repeat prescriptions are prepared and ready for collection within twoworking days. Regular daily checking ofemails and the internet order line.
9.Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy. Waiting room displays should be up to dateand reviewed on a regular basis for good patient communication.
10. Service refreshments and prepare formeetings, when required.
11. Report any significant events, incidents andcomplaints to the Practice Manager, following practice protocols.
12. Photocopying and emailing of information asnecessary to support the administration of the practice.
1. Ensuring stationery levels are maintained andshortfalls reported to the Practice Manage.
15. Any other duties fitting of this post.
Management of AppointmentSystem1 Ensure total familiarity with the appointmentsystems including regular and incidental variations.
2Book appointments and recalls ensuringsufficient information is recorded to retrievethe medical record.
Start and end of theDay Procedures1.Open up premises at start of day andmake all necessary preparations to receive patients. This includes switching on the check-inscreen and PowerPoint presentation on the television.
2.At the end of day, switch off check-in screen, television presentation and ensure thebuilding is secured and lights off. Theburglar alarm must be set before leaving. Security procedures must be followedto secure reception office and building
3Monitor the effectiveness of thecomputer system and report any problems or variations to the Practice Manager.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
