Main duties of the jobSt James Practice is a general practice in Beckenham, Bromley providing NHS primary care services to over 7,000 patients. We have a well-established team of 3 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 1 GP Retainer, 2 Practice Nurses, and 1 HCA.
We are a training practice with medical students and GP registrars, we are involved in new projects to change the delivery of Primary Care. We work in conjunction with our PCN onsite Clinical pharmacists, Dietician, Physiotherapist, Advanced Mental Health Nurse, Nurse Associates, HCA and Health and Wellbeing Coach to expand the care we provide to our patients. Practice Overview
St James Practice is a training Practice that serves approximately 7,000 patients across Beckenham.
Our team includes 3 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GPs, 1 GP Retainer a dedicated nursing team with HCA support, and a comprehensive administrative team.
Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing services within the general practice setting. The post holder will promote health, provide clinical care, and support long-term condition management in a courteous and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Working within your scope of practice and experience:
Deliver core nursing services including:
Cervical cytology
Chronic disease management (e.g. Asthma, COPD, Diabetes)
Wound care
Ear irrigation
Immunisations (adults & children), B12 etc
Travel vaccinations & advice
Contraceptive advice
General treatment room services
Conduct patient assessments, develop and evaluate care plans
Home visits when required
Promote health education and lifestyle advice
Make appropriate referrals to internal/external health professionals
Support QOF achievement and other clinical targets
Participate in clinical audits and implement improvements
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate, timely documentation using EMIS Web
Monitor and order medical supplies; ensure appropriate storage
Support maintenance and servicing of clinical equipment
Ensure clinical areas are well-stocked and maintained
Assist with recall and follow-up systems for patient care
Communication
Build effective working relationships across the multidisciplinary team
Attend internal/external meetings relevant to the role
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and carers
Ensure informed consent is always obtained
Respond appropriately to internal/external communications
Clinical and PN meetings
Quarterly nurse meetings with named partner
Confidentiality & Data Protection
Maintain strict patient confidentiality in line with policies and legislation
Escalate concerns regarding patient safety in line with safeguarding policies
