Overview

We are currently recruiting an experienced and fully registered triage nurse to support our busy, remote GP telehealth service. Prioritising patient needs and assigning to GPs appropriately for level of urgency, this role will be best suited to a Band 6 – 7 nurse, crucially with experience in a primary care setting.

Annual Salary – £35,000 - £45,000 FTE (depending on experience); pro rata if part-time

Contract – Permanent

Location – Remote, working from home

Hours – Monday to Friday, full- and part-time availability, max 40 hours per week.

Role and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of a telephone triage nurse include but are not limited to:

  • Working as an autonomous practitioner and providing high quality clinical triage for the GP telehealth service
  • Reviewing incoming cases for urgency and priority based on assessment of symptoms and available health information
  • Holding phone and video triage assessments with patients where required
  • Evaluating the severity of a patient’s illness quickly before proposing a suitable degree of care centred on all available information
  • Providing signposting and/or medical advice to persons who have minor/common health problems
  • Scheduling and allocating appropriate appointments to GPs on platform
  • Efficiently triaging patients depending on the eligibility and exclusion criteria
  • Role may extend to treatment over time.

Selection Criteria

  • Must-Have: experience of triage in a primary care setting
  • Must-Have: ability to consult with children
  • Preferable: Ability to prescribe
  • Preferable: Experience of triage in a remote setting desirable (phone or video)
  • Band 6-7 Nurse
  • Registered with NMC (PIN verification will be required)
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including absolute competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Patient Administration Systems
  • Ability to plan effectively and maintain excellent levels of focus and personal organisation
  • Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to motivate individuals into making life changes
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
