Job summary

Primary Care 24 is seeking a Bank GP to oversee medical care in the Intermediate Care Beds team. The role focuses on admission, rehabilitation and discharge, with ward rounds and prescribing within NHS contract work. Shifts are bid for within 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, and you must hold GMC registration along with an enhanced DBS.

You will work in a not-for-profit social enterprise, delivering high-quality clinical oversight and patient-centred care across the bed base.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Current enhanced DBS certificate.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and make independent clinical decisions.
• Competence with IT and clinical systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for admission, rehabilitation and discharge of patients in the PC24 bed base.
• Conduct ward rounds independently and with MDT colleagues.
• Complete clinical reviews and summarise treatment plans.
• Formulate comprehensive, patient-centred management plans.
• Refer to other clinical disciplines when required and prescribe medications as needed.

Job description

Bank GP post in the Intermediate Care Beds team at Primary Care 24, a not-for-profit social enterprise working mainly on NHS contracts. The work centres on medical oversight of patients in the PC24 bed base, covering admission, rehabilitation and discharge, with ward rounds, clinical reviews and prescribing. Shifts are picked by bidding from those available within weekday operational hours of 9:00 to 17:00. Full GMC registration and an enhanced DBS check are required.

What the job involves

• Work within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and timely admission, rehabilitation and discharge of patients
• Provide medical oversight and support for assessment, treatment and management of patients in the PC24 bed base
• Conduct ward rounds independently and with wider MDT colleagues
• Complete clinical reviews and summarise patients' current and previous treatment
• Formulate comprehensive, patient-centred management plans
• Refer to other clinical disciplines for expert opinion when required
• Prescribe medication, including anticipatory medication, with careful consideration of patient needs
