Job summary

PartnersHealth is seeking a General Practice Assistant to join the GP Practice team. The role is full-time (37.5 hours) with shifts 08:00–16:30 from Monday to Friday. The surgery opens 8am–6:30pm, offering a supportive environment and opportunities for professional development.

The GPA will perform routine admin tasks, basic clinical interventions (BP, ECG, phlebotomy, wound care), and assist clinicians during clinics and patient care activities. Competitive salary and NHS Pension are included.

Qualifications

• GCSE/NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
• Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Must demonstrate behaviours consistent with PartnersHealth values and standards.
• Ability to apply basic clinical judgement and escalate appropriately to the clinician.
• Adaptable to changing working environment and service needs.
• Ability to work flexibly, supporting both clinical and administrative demands.

Responsibilities

• Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up for patients.
• Perform basic clinical observations and simple investigations as directed (e.g., BP, ECG, phlebotomy, urine tests).
• Support GP/practice nurse with immunisations and wound care.
• Prepare patients before consultation and record essential data.
• Complete forms and prepare documents for GP sign-off (insurance forms, benefit apps).
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and provide information as needed.
• Liaise with outside agencies to coordinate admissions or on-call support.
• Participate in annual performance reviews and track competency evidence.
