UNCOVER, a prominent UK law firm in Birmingham, is seeking a Governance & Risk Analyst to join the Risk & Compliance function. You’ll support governance, risk and compliance activities across the firm, providing practical guidance and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of processes.

You’ll engage with AML/CDD, conflicts, data protection and SRA compliance, escalating complex matters and advising colleagues accordingly. A proactive, collaborative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Risk & Compliance environments, ideally in a law firm.
• Strong understanding of regulatory principles including AML/CDD, conflicts, data protection.
• Ability to assess information and identify potential risks and escalation needs.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day governance, risk and compliance activities with timely, accurate delivery.
• Provide practical guidance on compliance and risk queries and escalate complex matters.
• Assist with processes: conflicts, AML/CDD, information barriers, internal controls.
• Review compliance matters applying proportionate, risk-based approaches per policies.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates to policies.
• Help develop, review and maintain internal policies and guidance.
• Prepare MI, compliance reports and papers for meetings and committees.
• Support compliance training and new joiner training, and communicate updates.
• Assist wider Governance & Risk projects and system implementations.

A prominent UK law firm is looking for a Governance & Risk Analyst to join the Risk & Compliance function team in Birmingham.

This is a broad role offering exposure to a variety of governance, risk and compliance matters across the firm. You will work closely with colleagues across the business, providing practical support and guidance, assisting with risk and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities for the Governance & Risk Analyst role:

• Support the day-to-day delivery of the firm's governance, risk and compliance activities, ensuring processes are completed accurately and within required timescales.
• Provide practical guidance to colleagues on a range of compliance and risk-related queries, escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
• Assist with key risk and compliance processes, including conflicts, AML/CDD, information barriers, personal and other internal controls.
• Support the review and assessment of compliance matters, applying a proportionate and risk-based approach in line with relevant regulations and firm policies.
• Keep up to date with changes to relevant legislation, regulation and professional requirements, supporting the team in assessing and implementing any necessary updates.
• Assist with the development, review and maintenance of internal policies, procedures and guidance.
• Support the preparation of management information, compliance reports and papers for relevant meetings and committees.
• Contribute to the delivery of compliance training and communications, including supporting new joiner training and communicating relevant regulatory or policy updates.
• Support wider Governance & Risk projects and initiatives, including process improvements and the implementation of new controls or systems.

About you:

• Experience working within Risk & Compliance environment, ideally within a law firm.
• Good understanding of regulatory and compliance principles, with exposure to areas such as AML/CDD, conflicts, SRA compliance and data protection.
• Able to assess information, identify potential risks and escalat issues appropriately.
• Confident communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
