Risk & Compliance Manager | London | Hybrid
Are you a Senior Legal Risk & Compliance Analyst looking to step into a managerial role?
We are partnered with a leading UK boutique law firm that is looking to appoint a Risk & Compliance Manager into a newly created role.
This is a broad, hands on opportunity working closely with the Operations Director, Partners and senior leadership team, with responsibility for overseeing the firm’s risk, compliance, governance and policy framework.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys having genuine ownership of their work and wants to play a key role in shaping risk and compliance across an established and growing organisation.
The role will include:
- Managing and maintaining the firm’s risk register, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, escalated and mitigated
- Monitoring regulatory and legislative developments and ensuring the business remains compliant
- Acting as a key point of contact for regulatory and professional bodies
- Reviewing and maintaining firm-wide policies, procedures and governance documentation
- Overseeing AML, sanctions and wider regulatory compliance requirements
- Managing mandatory compliance training and delivering risk & compliance induction to new joiners
- Conducting compliance audits and monitoring risk management plans
- Investigating incidents and breaches, supporting complaints and identifying trends and areas for improvement
- Managing key regulatory registrations, returns, renewals and insurance requirements
- Supporting business continuity planning and wider operational projects
- Working closely with Partners, Directors and senior stakeholders on risk and governance matters
- Supporting the Operations Director with process improvement, transformation and strategic projects
About you:
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- 5+ years’ experience in risk and compliance, ideally gained within a law firm or regulated professional services environment
- Strong knowledge of SRA requirements, AML, sanctions, data protection and professional conduct regulations
- Experience developing, reviewing and implementing compliance policies and frameworks
- A strong understanding of risk management and governance
- Excellent organisation and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong written communication skills and confidence drafting policies and governance documentation
- The ability to work effectively with Partners and senior stakeholders, exercising discretion and sound judgement
- A proactive, practical and hands-on approach
